The battery management system (BMS) is a central system which monitors and protects the battery pack of an EV, therefore optimising their performance and lifespan.
By continually monitoring the voltage, current & temperature in the battery pack, the BMS plays a crucial role in the safety and performance of the EV’s battery, thus protecting it from damage caused by overcharging, over-discharging and high temperatures.
The BMS ‘health’ is partly shown by the temperature change of the battery cells. Under normal operation the cell temperatures are in parity, therefore any changes could indicate that they are then operating under abnormal conditions.
Robust, fast response and accurate NTC thermistor sensors are recommended for temperature sensing, whilst our Logic fuses provide over-current and overcharge protection.
