Do you have any sensors suitable for measuring temperature of fluid in pipes?

Absolutely, pipe temperature is a vital measurement parameter for applications like boilers, heat pumps, solar panels and coffee makers.

We offer several sensor options to suit different requirements for accuracy, speed of response and ease of installation:

  • Immersion Sensors

Recommendation:  ATC Semitec BTS5 immersion sensor for the fastest and most accurate temperature measurement.

ATC Semitec BTS5- Fast response water/ fluid temperature sensor.

When speed of response is paramount, these parts give you ~1s response time as they are in direct contact with the liquid. Manufactured from 316L Stainless steel, these are safe for use with drinking water.

Available with BSP ¼ inch thread or push fit options for secure and versatile integration.

Note that these parts do require a junction in the pipework to mount the sensor, so some foresight is required for integration.

  • Pipe Clip Sensors

Recommendation: ATC Semitec BTS3 pipe clip sensor

This fast response non-invasive option combines a fast response NTC sensor with an easy snap-on pipe clip. A sensor style which is ubiquitous within boiler applications.

These allow for easy plug & play pipe temperature sensing without pipe alterations, and our range is available in all standard pipe diameters: 13mm,15mm,18mm, 22mm & 28mm.

  • General Purpose Probe

Recommendation: Semitec 103AT- 11 IP67 rated sensor

Alternatively, a standard probe sensor can be mounted onto a pipe using jubilee clips etc.

Whilst these may not give the optimal speed of response for fluid measurement, these offer a cost-effective solution and versatile solution. Available with a variety of lead lengths and their low profile 6mmØ head size allows easy integration. Additionally, these are not limited by pipe diameter as a jubilee clip is infinitely adjustable.

Thermostats

Recommendation : ASAHI US-602 pipe clip thermostats

In addition to sensing, it may also be useful to have a control switch which responds to temperature change of a fluid in a pipe. For this, we can offer our ASAHI US-602 pipe clip thermostats which are designed for integration with the most common 13mm diameter pipes. These switches respond to a pre-calibrated temperature and will Open or Close a circuit, triggering a function within an application – like controlling a water heater or manifold, for example.
